If you're looking to improve your blues keyboard skills, I cannot recommend this book enough. Marty Sammon gives you a lot of piano, organ, and clavinet licks grounded in solid blues principles. Your chops will quickly improve through serious practicing and improvisation with the examples in this book. After a 25 year hiatus from professionally playing keyboards, I purchased the Kindle version. Have iPad, will travel. There are some transcriptions that are incorrect for two or three chords but they're easy enough to figure out by ear. I don't consider them to be a distraction as it makes me think more about what I'm playing and hearing.I would suggest limbering up your fingers and arms before working through various sections of the book. There is a lot of movement here. With practice, dexterity will become your best friend. The book contains great intros, turnarounds, endings, licks, etc.. It covers conversations, call and answer, piano and organ accompaniment, phrasing and constructing solos. The end contains a list of great recordings that you can use as inspiration for your playing.Marty Sammon has played with many blues greats and is a member of Buddy Guy's Damn Right Blues Band. I saw him play solo a week ago. His stylings are wonderful to listen to. Aside from the Chicago style of blues, he's incredible when playing New Orleans piano. I felt as though I was listening to Dr. John, Longhair, Tuts, Pinetop Perkins, and Jimmy Yancey all rolled in together.
